[first lines of the film]
Fred Rogers: [at his piano] “Come on over a minute. I just had some ideas that I’ve been thinking about for quite a while about modulation. It seems to me that there are different themes in life, and one of my main jobs, it seems to me, is to help, through the mass media for children, to help children through some of the difficult modulations of life.”

Thus begins a marvelous biographical documentary about a most amazing individual. Fred Rogers was an anomaly even within the world of children’s television. Through his gentle message of love, tolerance and acceptance, he touched countless children and several generations with a message that can perhaps be boiled down to “I like you, just the way you are.” He spent hours crafting every show, every song, every line to make it the best possible. He enchanted children and adults alike, because there was nothing phony about Mr. Rogers. What you saw, was what you got. His television personality was who he was. Popcorn will be provided, feel free to bring snacks and drinks to enjoy and maybe share.
