Together with our Crafting Skillshare event, Common Root is hosting its first Lincoln Repair Cafe from 7:30 – 9 PM on Monday, June 23rd. Details on each of the activities are below:
Crafting Skillshare – Join us at Common Root to work on your crafty project of choice. Share your technique and/or your supplies, learn about other people’s projects or simply join in the merriment of being surrounded by locally crafted items and the creative folks who make them.
We’re going to have some greeting card supplies to share this month, so come by to learn techniques for crafting cards or bring supplies to share to help people create their own cards.
We’re also calling all artists and crafty folks to join in our artist trading card fundraiser.
Use the medium of your choice on a playing card. Collage, paint, fabric, beading, stitching, poetry, etc. Donate your card for a future First Friday event to raise money for Common Root.
You must use a playing card. We have plenty to share, and you can put your contact / studio information on the back to advertise your own work. This is a spin-off of artist trading cards. We are recycling incomplete decks of cards by using each card as our small canvas.
Deadline for returning completed cards to Common Root is September 10, 2014.
Repair Cafe – It’s free! It’s practical! It’s fun!
Lincoln Repair Cafe is ready to mend clothing–FREE–at Common Root – Mutual Aid Center! Drop by with your mend-able items. We can mend or advise about mending clothing, stuffed toys, totes, backpacks, household linens, etc.
