The beginnings of jazz in America were developed through a blending of African and European musical heritages. The impact of African Americans on jazz is tremendous.
This presentation will explore the elements of early call and response, blues, dixieland, gospel, and ragtime as components of black culture and the major role they play in the development of this American art form.
